I have been a client of webhero/catalog since 2003. I bought my very first domain with them and have used them ever since. Wayne Neeley is great, if you call for any sales or tech support, he is amazing. Everyone else - not so much. Over the years the general support has become less and less until it is practically nonexistent. Without investigating the problem, their first answer is always "it's not on our end." I finally decided to move all my domains and all my hosting to godaddy - at least their control panel lets me do more for less $. I would stay away from webhero. I am not sure why they cost more than other hosts at this point, because they don't offer anything better. Just my two cents.

I have been with webhero for ten years and have had great service. Price is a bit high but support and uptime is great. The recent price hike kind of upset me, however after contacting the Prsident of the company he saved me around $800 a year on eight sites. Thank you webhero for your great service.

Webhero continued to charge for hosting after hosting was transferred, and more than doubled the cost from $174.80 to $314.85 from one year to the next. Also they added a service not ordered, "VIP Club." After my 80 year old mom paid the bill in error, they refused to refund when notified of the mistake. Buyer beware! This is not an honest company and I (her daughter) was told that I would have to go in and delete the account in order for billing to stop.

😁 Web Hero is very cost-effective. They offer good enough service with all the other features which are ok to be with them. But they need to improve little in quality; because there are other hosting providers available like Go Daddy, Domain Racer, and Blue Host who offer a quality of service at low cost. 😠 this webhosting company is a scam. They overcharge you, don't send you actuall bills, and cancel your service before your renewal date and charge your credit card a month in advance. They make it as hard as possible to transfer your service over to another webhosting company and change their fees without warning you. I was paying 6 times more for services by the time I cancelled. Don't ever use them.

I've been with Catalog.com since March, 2002. I have 3 sites hosted, nothing high traffic, mostly hobby stuff. I do recall the transition from catalog to webhero was a bit rocky, and yes my sites were hacked a few years ago, only affecting the index files and a few scripts "no biggie". I'd become accustomed to the 120.00 annual unlimited unix rate and the 12.00 annual reg fee, I guess I got lazy. I've never contacted tech support...ever! I did notice what seemed to be a more frequent charge to my CC recently, so I reviewed the CC account summaries, as well as the webhero account history. The three domains combined were running 396.00 annually....for years.
After reviewing the account history for these domains, I've been charged well over 1100.00 this past year! And when did a 12.00 reg fee become 207.00, 216.00, and 132.00??? Needless to say, any further charges to this CC have been blocked. Try their "live chat" I'm sure that'll work.

We rely on smtp to send email receipts from our registration web modules. This service has been down for over a week. Webhero suggests using imap or our ISPs email. They clearly have no clue how this impacts the business of their users. We will be moving.

We are a nonprofit who has hosted with WebHero since 2004. Our WebHero hosting rates increased 47% at renewal time without any advance notice. Our 2012 renewal bill was $50 for the hosting club and $149.50 for 12 months hosting (equalling about $12.50/mo for hosting compared to our 2011 rate of about $8.50/mo) WebHero's only explanation to us was that they offer 24/7 USA support. They also said we were to expect continued rate increases given the improvements to their website and services (the improved service is that you can now use their installer to load WordPress, etc - versus their previous system that charged $10 each time. Also, they have finally installed a modern, usable control panel). We did not appreciate, or expect, a 47% increase in fees and especially did not expect it to happen without any advance notice to us. WebHero is nonnegotiable on this issue. 😁 The one bad review by Mike Miller fails to mention that WebHero is still one of the few webhosts that offer a FREE webhosting plan, with basic services for simple sites, even if you are transferring a domain and not getting a new one. That's the only time others will give you free hosting.
I've used webhero for years and they are incredible. I've seen them set up a brand new site in less than two hours. Their customer support is incredible. I love their user interface for managing my account, and their ticket system. They have webmail, and great support features that lead you step by step (with pictures!) on how to do things. They are great.

😁 I'm shocked to see any negative feedback at all for catalog/webhero. I've been using them for over 10 years, since they first incorporated, and they are outstanding! New sites are up overnight, tickets are responded to quickly, I can get an American tech support 24/7 even during the holidays, they have an easy GUI interface for their customers, they offer every service you can possibly need, their prices beat MANY of their competitiors, and I've never had a problem with servers going down. I am a website developer; not only do they maintain several of my sites but I have recommended Webhero to clients as a web host for years. They have been simply fantastic. And no, I do not work for them.

😉 Initially I went with catalog.com/WebHero.com because they were low cost at $35 per year now they cost over $100 year. Plus they charge extra for what other host include. Their control panel is out dated, with features they removed several years ago.

😁 I have been with Webhero for two years now and my service has been nothing but stellar. They may have had problems in the past but since I have been with them I have never had server trouble, their 24x7 American (no trouble understanding them and no scripts lol) based support has been wonderful and helpful, and their new Plesk based control panel has lots of nifty features.

😃 Web hero / Catalog servers are probably just above average in terms of speed and reliability, but where they absolutely stomp the competition is in technical support. I don't know how many guys they have, or what their client load is, but I have spoken to a REAL LIVE PERSON at all hours of the day and night! Sure, sometimes the on-hold times have been lengthy, but in every occasion except 1 in over 9 years of using them, they have almost never failed to resolve the issue. Now they just hiked there prices, which I'm not so happy about, but other than that this is THE IDEAL HOST FOR NEW USERS
