π I started writing websites for friends about 4 years ago (with a view to going commercial) and saw the Streamline Bulk hosting package as a cheap way into the market.
In the early days I thought that the slow CP was just because they were new. I also thought that the slow MySql access times and website loading times (including Wordpress) was because they are new.
The speed of MySql, Linux, PHP are still slow. Wordpress on Streamline is totally unacceptable.
What is worse is that today, 7 of my (now well established clients) cannot view their websites because ie8 says it cannot find the site and Firefox has timed out.
You probably know that Streamline do not host any servers. They buy time from (I think, and don't shout me down here please) fasthosts.com. This probably explains their marketing focus, rather than support.

π Streamline in my experience is unreliable. I suffered from massive downtime periods. For the 3 weeks before moving to a new host my site was down almost 15 hours. I was never given an explanation as to why this happened in fact there was no reply from their support until my site was back on line and then they just said that everything was ok.I continually had Fast CGI errors which meant that my site was unavailable and have since been told that this can be due to overstreching server resources at the expense of the customer.
When I migrated to a new host and cancelled Streamline they said I would be refunded with the outstanding amount. Exactly the opposite happened as they initially took another payment off my card after the cancellation date (they keep your card number and take payment without letting you know!!!!).
Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware - don't just take my word for the way Streamline will treat you search the reviews and try to find a good one about them.

π God, these guys have made me so angry. Like hundreds of other customers they have taken money from my account for a domain renewal without notice. I have asked for a refund as this is a service I do not require and have been just shouted at by an angry customer services guy who said I'm wasting his time!

Almost 4 hours today but from 16/1/10 to 8/2/10 it has been out for 11Β½ hours.
I have never been given a reason for this.
Also I have not yet had a reply to the customer support message I sent over 2 hours ago.
Time to move to a better host.

π I have been using streamline.net for two years and host several domains with them. My experience has been poor to say the very least. Email and ftp servers tend to go down on a weekly basis and support tickets are answered after a two or three day rest. The worst performance is the sql servers which are painfully slow, time out frequently and massively reduce the ability to run a useful database driven site.
Domains are automatically renewed without any prior notice and your entire account will be suspended unless you settle the bill, even if you have no need for old hosting accounts. The cutomer services manager is a nasty piece of work. I asked if I could speak to someone who could waive a Β£100 charge for an unwanted domain they billed me for (and contacted them on the day the invoice came in, the first time they had communicated the charge) - he commented 'I have the power to waive the charge, but I don't want to'.

π Very very bad experience. Forgot renewal was due but luckily card details had expired. However 2 months later new card was charged. Will not let you cancel unless you 'phone an expensive 0844 number. Rediculous. One website isn't even working.

π I'm going to keep this really brief. I am writing this review because I have just bought new hosting from another company, Rochen. I hated Streamline, they are better than some but not at all great. My site was offline quite a lot, very slow page loads, terrible email (many times no connection could be made to email) and overloaded database servers.
Only use this site if you are a web novice looking to set up a small non database driven static website. I would not recommend them, even their own website was poorly coded, lots off layout errors across different browsers.
As I said, a really brief review, I'm not going to justify my opinion just let it be known I would not recommend them

Last year I transferred 3 domains from 1&1 to Streamline purely on price. This was a mistake. I have had constant outages of the sites, due to timeouts, and not being able to reach the network. The email is patchy at best, sending and receiving is a very hit and miss affair. Sending email from within a PHP script is impossible as streamline has managed to get their mail servers onto pretty much every blacklist available. So hotmail, gmail, yahoo, AOL, and pretty much every other server going rejects the email as spam.
Calls to the support staff are more painful than dental surgery without anaesthetic. Email tickets are responded to as and when they can be bothered and tend to be automatic or stating "not our problem, it works fine here". Phone calls to the support staff are equally pointless as they tap a few keys then declare that any problem is with your code not their site. As the only thing in the entire [read more...]

π home user. waht a bunch of cowboys. the worst host that I have been with ( and I was with lycos for some time) Support is as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. Ftp access is down time after time. The free 3 months trial is is only there hoping that you will not notice that they intend to upgrade you to the highest cost package when you are not looking. For heavens sake cancel your card after first registering with them (be warned) do google for reviews of streamlinenet and you will see that they are nothing short of rubish. I wish I had done my search before I fell into their trap.

They setup the domain incorrectly, and then took 10 days to correct it AND deleted all my files in the process. When I emailed to inquire about the IP to set the A:NAME record to, they had to escalate the ticket to Tier 2 Support and I finally got an answer more than a week later. I inquired about how to access SSH and they told me to ssh to ssh.partyhearty.org - useless information, as I host my own DNS (a fact I included in the support ticket). Since then, I have had to submit multiple support tickets, which usually get answered at least 48 hours later. It has finally gotten to the point that I get 500 Server Errors every time I try to load my site due to server overload.

π I was moving from ix webhosting as they are griding to a halt and I tried the 3 month free trial with streamlinenet.co.uk. The site uploaded well, but on loading a zencart I could not get chmod read only onto the relevant files. I wrote several times to the helpdesk and each time they completely ignored the question asked and said they did not provide support for other programmes they had on their panel.
I finally wrote telling them that their control panel would not let me alter the CHMOD setting and asked how to do it. I got the same useless answer. Even when I told them why I was leaving they seemed to ignore the comments and just say thank you for trying them out. Nothing about trying to rectify the problems.
They seemed no faster than IXWebhosting so I can assume they overload their servers as well.

You will be given login details to Streamline.net personal portal, but will not be allowed to have the details to tucows Domain login portal (Streamline.net are resellers for Tucows). This means any changes you would like to make to your domain, will need to be changed by support ticket throught Streamline.net. this is a direct breach of Tucows conditions.
Here is the support ticket I sent to Streamline.net about this.
