Forthnet is the largest entertainment and communications provider in Greece, and it has played a significant role in introducing internet and satellite pay TV services to the Greek market. Through its service Nova 3Play, Forthnet has become the largest 3play provider in the country, offering integrated communication and entertainment services to Greek families at competitive prices.As a publicly listed company on the Athens Stock Exchange since 2000, Forthnet operates a chain of more than 130 shops across Greece. As of March 31, 2015, it had over 1.18 million subscriptions, serving more than 815,000 households, which accounts for about 20% of the total.
Forthnet is known for being a pioneer in the Greek market. It introduced the terms "2play" and "3play" to describe its bundled services, and through its pay-TV platform Nova, it was the first to broadcast in HD (high definition) and produce and broadcast 3D TV content. In 2014, the company launched Nova GO, an awarded over-the-top service that provides live and on-demand TV content on laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
The company's network infrastructure is well-developed, with interconnections to international IP peering exchanges (DEC-IX, AMS-IX, BIX), providing a total interconnection capacity of 120Gbps from Athens and Thessaloniki. This allows for direct connectivity with international internet networks, resulting in faster user experiences and improved network operation in Northern Greece.
Furthermore, Forthnet has established permanent connections with local providers in Greece, ensuring efficient local content delivery through its 66Gbps Content Delivery Network in Athens and Thessaloniki. This CDN serves content from major providers like Google, Akamai, and web-streaming platforms.
With its extensive experience and know-how, Forthnet continues to upgrade and adapt its network to offer diversified broadband services throughout Greece, enhancing the overall internet and entertainment experience for its customers.
