π I have been a loyal customer for well over a decade. Today namesco has frozen one of my customer accounts for 2.36GB over quota. They email a warnings, but not that they will freeze your account.
I want to stress i pay for the unlimited storage service. Unlimited now means 5GB tops. The account is now frozen and no one can delete emails to get the service activated again, unless you pay them extra money. No more 24hour grace period. This feels like extortion.
I'm now moving all hosting services away. Be careful with this company.
There are better hosts out there that will work with you to build long term relationships, and work with you to resolve issues.

π Like many of the reviews on this site thing were ok with the services till Names took over my account, then things have gone downhill on billing, my emails stopped, I checked with them they informed me due to none payment! After they checked, I got sorry you are paid up we will reconnect you, and no compensation.
Lots of calls and emails, no response, not interested in customer retention, will not be renewing with them.
It must be said that their technical side has been great.
I will not be staying with them

π We have been with Namesco since putting our business online in 2007. We had all our domains with them, as well as Dedicated Server service.
Technical Support is great but nowadays Customer Service and Billing could not find their own arses with both hands.
They failed to renew one of our domains despite having a Direct Debit mandate and valid Card details, and the renewal method set to 'Auto'.
When our domain suddenly stopped working I asked them what was wrong and was told I had failed to renew it so it went up for sale.
Even worse, another hosting company now owned it and it was up for sale - at a premium price of $280.
When I asked how this came to be they said they had emailed me about a renewal failure. I replied that I had received no such email, can they tell me when it was sent.
I was told they could not find any trace of emails (from 2 months ago) but they must have sent them, so it could only be my fault for not having enough funds in the bank - the [read more...]

Namesco, operating under the domain names.co.uk, is a long-standing UK-based web hosting provider with over two decades of experience. Founded in 1997 and now part of the European tech conglomerate team.blue, Namesco has grown into a notable figure in the British hosting landscape. With over 650,000 websites hosted and a strong focus on UK-based customer service, the company appeals to individuals, small businesses, developers, and resellers seeking reliable and versatile hosting infrastructure.
Although once more decorated in the industry, Namescoβs branding remains solid thanks to its consistency in service delivery, support, and recent focus on eco-friendly operations.
Hosting Services and Infrastructure
Namesco offers a comprehensive range of services, including shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, reseller hosting, email hosting, domain registration, and SSL certificates. Their shared hosting plans cater only Linux users, and include IMAP-based email and a free domain name (for the first year on most plans).
However, the entry-level shared hosting options come with some limitationsβsuch as restricted hosted domains or email accountsβwhich may feel constrictive compared to other mainstream competitors. The Premium plan, on the other hand, offers more flexibility, including unlimited features that suit growing websites or small businesses.
Their VPS and dedicated servers are where Namesco begins to differentiate itself. These plans are fully managed and run on modern infrastructure, utilizing Intel Xeon E5 processors, DDR4 RAM, and SSD storage. Dedicated servers are offered in tailored variants, including options optimized for WordPress and Magento, complete with caching tools like Redis and OPcache, and security software such as VCTR Pro for automated vulnerability scanning.
Reseller hosting is limited to a single plan, but this comes with unlimited email and hosted accounts on both Linux and Windows, running on SSD storage. The model allows resellers to set their own pricing and branding, with no hidden costs advertised.
Performance and Technical Features
From a performance standpoint, Namesco emphasizes speed and availability. Hosting plans benefit from SSD and NVMe storage, Dell PowerEdge servers, and caching systems that reduce load times. The company supports popular content management systems, and installation of WordPress, Joomla, and others is possible via one-click installers.
Their custom-built Security Shield is a noteworthy inclusion, featuring malware scanning, automatic CMS patching, DDoS protection, and firewall configuration. Daily backups and restore options are included, alongside tools for FTP/SSH access, cron jobs, phpMyAdmin, and configurable PHP versions.
Namesco guarantees 99.9% uptime, which is standard across the industry, though they do not explicitly offer uptime credits or advanced SLAs on most basic packages.
Data Center & Network
Namescoβs hosting is backed by a secure UK data center in the Thames Valley, operating with Tier 3+ specifications. The facility features redundant power, physical and network security, and 24/7 monitoring. Spread across 50,000 square feet, the infrastructure includes:
- Up to 450 server racks
- 2N power configuration
- Multi-layer access controls
- 24/7 staffed perimeter security
The facility is also connected to other UK network points via high-bandwidth MPLS, ensuring resiliency and low-latency connectivity. These physical and network redundancies provide the backbone for their stable hosting operations.
Environmental Commitment
One of Namescoβs strongest recent moves is their investment in green hosting. Their data center now runs on 100% renewable energy, verified by the Green Web Foundation. They also offset emissions through global tree-planting partnerships and implement comprehensive recycling, equipment reuse, and sustainability practices internally. Electric company vehicles and cycle-to-work initiatives further support their net-zero ambitions.
This eco-conscious approach may appeal to businesses that prioritize sustainability in their operations and procurement.
Control Panels & Usability
While Namesco used to offer cPanel and Pleskβboth well-established and widely used control panels, there is no mention anymore in 2025 on their website, only about a proprietary in-house panel (WePanel) for billing and account management. The in-house interface, however, feels outdated in design and functionality, segmented across different subdomains and lacking the polish seen in modern dashboards. This fragmentation might be frustrating for users accustomed to streamlined experiences.
Customer Support
Customer support is available seven days a week, with phone assistance during office hours and a 24/7 ticketing system. While not fully 24/7 across all channels, the support team is UK-based and known for being responsive and knowledgeable. Namesco also offers a well-maintained knowledge base with tutorials, guides, and FAQs, helpful for users who prefer self-service.
Their support infrastructure, while not industry-leading, is consistent and reliable, offering peace of mind for users who might occasionally need technical assistance.
Pricing & Value
Namescoβs pricing is transparent and fairly competitive, especially on introductory offers such as Β£2 for the first month on shared hosting. However, they do not advertise a money-back guarantee, which could deter some cautious buyers looking for a risk-free trial.
While not the cheapest in the UK market, their pricing reflects the quality of infrastructure, green credentials, and UK-based support. There are no aggressive upsells or hidden renewal traps, which makes them a safer choice than some of the big-brand competitors.
Namesco, once known for offering both Linux and Windows-based hosting, has phased out support for Windows shared hosting in its current lineupβa notable shift from previous years. What raises further concerns is their pricing strategy, which relies heavily on introductory offers. While the initial prices appear competitive, they apply only to the first month of service. For example, the *Pro-XL Shared Web Hosting* plan is advertised at Β£5 for the first month, but renews at a significantly higher rate of Β£29.99/month. This sharp increase can catch users off guard, especially those expecting consistent long-term pricing. Such a steep jump is uncommon in the industry and may undermine customer trust, particularly for those comparing hosting providers based on transparency and long-term value.
The refund policy at Names.co.uk is primarily discretionary. This means refunds are not guaranteed unless explicitly outlined in their terms of business. Each refund request is reviewed individually, based on its specific circumstances and the documentation provided. Customers are encouraged to include all relevant information, such as correspondence and supporting documents, when submitting a request.
To initiate a refund inquiry, customers must log an official request through the support section of their Online Control Panel, addressed to the Customer Care Team. Names.co.uk aims to respond to refund requests within 10 working days.
Itβs important to note that if the customer terminates the agreement, any liability terms specified under the contract will still apply.
π― Conclusion
Namesco provides a well-rounded and dependable hosting solution, particularly for UK customers who prioritize local infrastructure, green credentials, and a trustworthy support team. Their platform offers solid performance, a wide range of features, and straightforward pricing. That said, a few drawbacks remain: the dated account dashboard, lack of variety in reseller/VPS plans, and the absence of a money-back policy may limit their appeal to more advanced or price-sensitive users. Additionally, they havenβt kept pace in industry recognition, with most of their hosting awards dating back over a decade.
Despite this, Namesco remains a strong choice for small businesses and individuals seeking stable, eco-conscious hosting from a UK provider with a long-standing presence.
Namesco holds a strong position among European hosting providers, known for reliable services and a broad product range. However, one notable shortcoming lies in the naming of its hosting plans. The distinction between options such as Website Builder, Shared Web Hosting, and WePanel Hosting Packages is not clearly defined, which can lead to confusion for potential customers. This lack of clarity in product segmentation makes it harder for usersβespecially beginnersβto identify the most suitable solution for their specific needs. A more intuitive naming strategy and clearer categorization would significantly improve the user experience during the selection process.

π I wish I had seen these reviews before using these jokers.
Used them for my .uk domain name only as they were cheap, yeah cheap being the right word!
My domain expired, on 14/12/2019, as the price they were charging to renew was far too much. After 90 days normally domains are released and available again for purchase by anyone. So 1 month passes and I check whois, still shows as registered to me, but the expiry date is 14/01/2020, I thought it was perhaps a mistake so waited another month. In February I checked again and it shows the expiry date as 14/02/2020. I contacted them to find out what was going on. I was told the expiry date is obviously correct if that's what the domain registry shows and I have to wait a further 90 days to purchase it. Now more than 90 days have passed since the ACTUAL expiry date in December and I check the domain on whois today, still listed as me, but the expiry date now shows as 14/04/2020.

Shocking service. I went on their website and cancelled all renewals. I checked twice and received confirmation that I had done.
However they still took the money. I contacted them and he said βNo nothing I can do itβs been renewedβ he didnβt want to help and blamed me. I will report this as unauthorised transaction and let the banks sort it out.
You need to improve your service as looking at other web reviews, Iβm. It the only one.

This company does not respond to emails ever. Their sitebuilder is horrible to use and displays no consideration to the end user. They were quite cheap but provide nothing for that money as far as I can tell. 2 and a half years in I'm still trying to leave them, yet they are still grasping my domain name and not publishing my website.

π Names.co.uk arrogant and unhelpful
do not use them - they don't use email at all -
when you call to cancel or discuss your account they don't want to know -
I cancelled my service in early November by both calling their offices and login a service report in this regard - they completely ignored my cancelation and debited my credit card anyway.
Completely underhand practice and do not respond via email only via their support panel -
DO NOT USE THEM OR YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED AND NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE.
COMPLETELY UNETHICAL !

π A dreadful company full of almost hidden and over-priced charges and miserable [...]
Namesco are a bunch of rip-off merchants.I bought a .org domain from them (Iwas new to the game then) which sot me Β£9 + VAT, so it was already over-priced.
Compare Namesco with a company such as Namecheap and you won't want to deal with Namesco like I did, stupidly, when first starting out. I f I had know then what I know now, I would never have used Namesco.
When I came to renew it, they wanted Β£29 + VAT!! That's a 300% INCREASE but if I leave them it will cost me another Β£12 'transfer fee'!
I complained and received a call from some woman who tried to justify their prices and claimed also that she was unaware of the bad press her company are getting. She promised to email me with a solution but has not done so, despite repeated contact from me.
Seriously, don't go near these people and please, warn others to avoid them at any opportunity, They will rob you blind if you let them.

π They are rip off merchants. I signed up to Namesco 2 years. I decided not to use the domain name. 2 years later they take renewal fee out of my account without any authorisiation from me whatsoever. I feel like I've been robbed. Unbelievable CRAP SERVICE. No customer contact or service over 2years and then they take money out of my account without any authorisation from me. They're thieving robbers.

π Choose the right account and you get what you pay for. Recommended. as far as I am concerned. Have been with Namesco since they took over my old host Smartchoice back in 1998. Have a Designer Plus account with around twenty Linux hosted domains. As yet, never had a problem that wasn't solved as rapidly as reasonably possible and apart from a spate of recent denial of service attacks have had no unforeseen problems. Haven't bothered comparing prices elsewhere due to the dreaded upheaval of moving but they were good enough to offer me the same annual hosting discount as they were offering to new clients last year, can't complain. π Used to be good but lately iΒ΄ve had nothing but problems with them and my clients are getting angry which makes me look bad.
If you need to get in touch with sopport, prepare yourself to get very angry and spend a lot of time and money just to speak to someone, who will usually try his hardest to throw blame on someone else and want to get rid of you.
IΒ΄ve had accounts deleted for no reason and has taken days to put back amongst numerous other problems. Also, the hosting plans are not great as not all hosting accounts have SQL so if you are in the wrong bracket you will pay dearly for it.
YouΒ΄ve been warned.

π I was previously a satisfied XSession customer but since this shower have taken over things have gone downhill.
It is now Monday evening and I unable to ftp to my site. When reporting the problem they said the problem is due to a Denial of Service attack on Sunday. The email said that will be all they can tell me about it, as if to say "don't bother us again just go away and put up with it".
