😠 The Only Thing Unlimited Was the Frustration
I’d like to leave feedback for KnownHost (formerly HostAsset). The last time I heard from them was back in 2023, and today I received an email asking for feedback. Now, mind you — the feedback I left previously wasn’t great. It was negative in just about every sense of the word.

Here’s the story:
When I first joined HostAsset during a vacation in March 2022, I was genuinely happy with the service. I got unlimited hosting, unlimited domains, and great performance. Everything worked as promised, and I had no complaints.

But by June 2022, just three months later, things changed. HostAsset was bought out by KnownHost. I wasn’t given any real say or notice about the transition — I simply logged in one day to add a new site and discovered that I was now limited to 5 sites. At that time, I had 7 sites running just fine, no performance issues, and no slowdowns. But suddenly, I was being told I couldn’t add any more.

An independent web hosting company in business for a long time now (2005), KnownHost is lead by CEO, Justin Sauers, who manages several other companies. KnownHost comes with a selection of hosting solutions, but mainly oriented towards providing managed VPS and managed dedicated hosting.

Shared web hosting products are fully managed. These are controlled by Lite Power Webserver and are equipped with SSD cloud storage. SSD-powered VPS options come with Premium Raid Storage and automatic updates. KnownHost is also known for their managed KVM Cloud VPS servers which are provided with automatic updates and cloud storage. Their managed Dedicated Servers are automatically updated, as well. For all these products, KnownHost offers free migrations. This is a great advantage if we take into account that other web hosting companies actually apply fees for this.

KnownHost offers complementary DDOS protection and they claim to help their customers with technical configuration, assistance, security, migrations, free data backups or site optimization. The setup is free and it is instantly made. Also, their money-back guarantee is of 30 days after the purchase of a product.

Their prices are affordable and these are highly competitive with other popular hosting companies (Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc.) already existing on the market.

KnownHost keeps their website up-to-date. An article has been recently published in the Hosting Journalist about KnownHost expanding their SMB options for the new managed reseller cloud product.

KnownHost assures great functionality of their page and guarantees 99.996% uptime.

🏢 Data Center

KnownHost has 4 data centers: 3 in the US (Dallas, Seattle and Baltimore) and one in Amsterdam. More than that, they own a support office that functions in Birmingham, Alabama.

✍️ Customer Support

Besides offering a knowledgebase that can help orienting the customer, KnownHost puts at your disposal an FAQ section. When needed, the customer can contact them by submitting a ticket, live chat or they can access the community forum. There is also a KnownHost Wiki section which could be very useful for all customers. A KnownHost blog is available, as well. This facilitates the customers’ understanding regarding various topics, such as: differences between ecommerce solutions, keys to improve elements related to your page, how you can do proactive monitoring, and the list can go on.

KnownHost also operates with the classic control panel option, cPanel, but there is also the option others, like WHM.

🎯 Conclusion

Overall, KnownHost is a great independent company offering good services for any kind of business. They are generally focused on VPS services, but that does not mean their other products are not well-developed. They have a good reputation for hosting plans, high performance and well-administered support.

😠 WOW the worst hosting company on the planet. They changed my unlimited account to a 4 domain account because they felt like it then they suspended one of my domains because there was malware on it. After trying to explain there was no files in the folder as the domain was hosted else where I was informed my account was suspended due to the malware, so I moved on. Still not sure how an empty folder contains malware, the hackers must be good.

😁 I have been a KH customer for over 10 years and have NEVER had a cause for complaint, at one time I had two VPS accounts and if ever support was required my request was always responded to in rapid time (usually under a minute!) and dealt with in the most efficient, friendly and professional manner. As I am semi-retired now I have scaled down to a re-seller account on a shared service and yet I still get incredible efficient service, so even if you only have a small account the service, response for support and efficiency is the same, Unbeatable! This WAS brought to our attention by an ADMIN of our small company in late 2019. WE were then finally able to get the site secure. Also OUR webstats WERE NOT ENABLED BY DEFAULT from the begining!!!!
WE asked KnownHost about this ... they DID NOT care 1 bit. OFFERED no credit and provided nothing "0" when we asked them.

The most important point at the time is to have the server issue resolved to have my server back online.
