Of course their hosting service, range of services, cost, etc are also excellent. Probably a bit more expensive than other crappy web hosts but, as they say, you get what you pay for. 😁 Compared to other hosts, Doteasy is a smaller company, but it has the focus and attention to know each and every one of its customers for the personal touch you won’t get anywhere else. My journey with the Doteasy started when I embarked on building my first blog. I’m glad I took a chance on them. While I was a little iffy at first as my experience with other hosting sites were continuously horrid when site issues arose Doteasy had zero problems helping me through any issues that I was finding. You get all the same features but much better support.I have had a very easy time transferring my WordPress site over to Doteasy. It was telling everyone that my certificate expired the day before. But, when I researched my account, I found that my SSL was not expired. When I reached out, the specialist fixed it and my site was up and running again within less than 5 minutes.

I used Dotaesy to purchase two domain names and I use many of their hosting services to manage my site. Personally, they offer THE BEST customer service, hands down. You can chat with a live representatvie. I have done this many times, and always received prompt response and a resolution to my problem. If the chat representative cannot assist you, they will open a support ticket for your problem to be resolved. Most of my issues were resolved in less than a couple hours. From all the freebies they give me, to the constant support and assistance, it gets no better than this.

They have knowledgeable support staff, located in Canada who fluently speak Canadian, unlike some of the major ISPs who farm our their support to distant countries who in my personal experience do not know much about Canada, often don't speak our language, and although they might try can not solve technical issues.

Cost is particularly good for all the features I get.

😁 We've decided to return to Doteasy after a very bad experience with another webhosting company. I think leaving Doteasy was the worst decision i've ever made; i like their approach and i've always been able to solve my issues in cooperation with their friendly support team.

Their control panel is very easy to use; everything is explained in detail so every customer, even a beginner, can setup his own website in no-time.

😃 I have been with Doteasy since 2013 and I have been really happy with the service and the support. If it wasn't for my new ecommerce website, I would've stayed with them. But I am still getting my domain names with them (my go-to domain place) and so far I've gotten more support from them for a $5 domain than from my ecommerce provider whom i'm paying close to $30 a month! Great job Doteasy! Never disappoints!

😁 I have a few website hosted with Doteasy and I've never had problems with them. Doteasy doesn't disappoint. I am starting a web shop and Doteasy is of course my first choice! It's great to be with a company that continues to deliver great support year after year. Would be great if they can have an email-only plan as their email is great and a lot more affordable than signing up a gmail or outlook account!

😁 Doteasy really takes the "easy" part of their name seriously. I can't believe how fast they work to resolve issues (usually issues that I created myself as a non-tech savvy business owner). They never talk down to you or make yo u feel like a doofus when you contact support for any reason - they just solve problems. I can't imagine using any other host again!

I called in and the staff was very friendly and helpful and didn't upsell me on a hosting plan, such a sweet surprise. My domain was registered and up and running fast! Perfect!

😁 I needed to switch my website to HTTPS because of Google's new policy, but didn't know where to start. I came across a review of the great service from Doteasy's Philip on other website and I decided to give them a try. The best decision ever! Not only did they help me transfer my website and got HTTPS running, they even took the time to help me fix the mixed content issues. It's not often you see such great support nowadays! 😁 Doteasy offers many options to help users jumpstart their sites. In particular, I've tried their site builder and it's pretty easy to use. It's a drag and drop site builder. Plus, you have hundreds of templates to choose from. The site builder even gives you access to stock images library so that you don't need to purchase pictures and templates to build your site with another website.

Support is great (real person live chat, email, and phone). Their domain prices are reasonable for new registrations and renewals. I host with their Unlimited plan. But for those looking for hosting a simple website, definitely check out their Starter plan, which includes a free domain name and only priced at $3.75/mo.

They have received some negative feedback on some review sites and I was skeptical signing up with them, and I was in desperate need of a new host. But as a user now, I have to say I have not had any problems with their service or their customer service. For under $3 a month, I get a WordPress website and a free domain, just can’t beat that.

Asked about domains before I bought them by phone and even by email and was never told the information I asked apparently. Now DOTEASY is trying to charge me an extra $15 per domain to transfer out when I have asked about all this well over a month ago and was put off apparently because all this is hidden in their terms.

Absolutely HORRIBLE COMPANY to deal with. I just finished transferring the last of a dozen domains from them. It's like having all your teeth pulled. They tried to blackmail me on the last one by saying there would be a charge to transfer the domain in to my name. I pointed out that the WHOIS record already showed me as the owner of the domain. You are not allowed to unlock your domain without jumping thru hoops with multiple emails. If you are a business this is the last place you want to do business with.

My family, friends and I own 11 domains hosted at Doteasy, both Basic and Unlimited, since 2002 and I hereby want to thank them for an excellent service offered at the best prices by an expert and very helpful staff. I have noticed very few negative comments that I can contradict to whomever contacts me because they are published by uninformed people who donot spend a few minutes to click preferences when signing up for a domain or hosting service. There are options to choose from and Doteasy has NEVER charged anything without consent or without asking first. Please note that we have also used another service a few years ago to check and compare but ran away after the first year! Long live Doteasy.

The internet has always been the best way to have global exposure. My clients are not large companies but individuals that needed a boost into cyberspace and at a price that hard to refuse ~free! Doteasy allowed me to provide that for my clients for years. Only this year do they charge a small monthly fee for their basic service.
I have hosted over 21 websites* with Doteasy for over 15 years and have been extremely satisfied with their performance, and customer service. (*that is currently, with many more that have moved on to ad co.s that charge big bucks for their services). I am a small website builder on the side, doteasy allowed me to be all I needed to be for the people that needed me. Thanks Doteasy for everything!

Even when i mess things up bad... they come through like marvel super heroes and save the day (my small piece of cyber-galaxy). I've tried netsolutions, register, godaddy and they made me feel aghhhhh.... violated. Doteasy is easy, robust, value priced and the staff is friendly, crazy warp speed timely and sniper like... one shot one kill dead on with technical resolutions (to issues I cause) . 😞 No more "free" hosting
It's too bad you limit the "Time Hosted with..." field to "over 3 years". I have been with them since they first came into existance. Their strength has always been price, never support. I maintain several very basic, very low-traffic websites myself that rarely change. I do the html, etc, and use no email with them, etc. I've always renewed my domains 5 years at a time and so forth and paid nothing else otherwise. Now Doteasy is forcing us to begin paying over $20/year for basically nothing, since I essentially never use anything they offer. There is no "free" hosting at Doteasy anymore. And even though I have several years to go on my Domain life, they want to force me to start paying for something I don't even use. The worst part though is the incompetence of their online service staff who seem incapable of answering a question and can only repost irrelevant information that has already been sent to me in pro forma emails. At the lowest price, this group provides support by email only. The amazing thing is that almost every problem is solved the first time out of the box.

WARNING!!! Stay away from Doteasy. After getting your credit card details they will swindle you out of every dollar they can get. They will lock up your domain names, (this is never obvious until you actually try to transfer your domain name away from them). They will deduct hidden charges you didn't know about, and charge you a huge fee (we were charged over US$100.00) for giving you back your own domain name if it happens to have expired, even for one day. They are fraudsters, swindlers and tricksters of the worst kind. They ripped us off and they will rip you off.

I had not heard of Doteasy before going to work for Morton Amusement a few months ago... they've been using shared hosting with them for several years... I mostly have experience with the "big guys," and frankly, this is MUCH more attentive, better features, and about the same price. I've done a LOT of work enhancing the company's web presence, and I've needed some server support for several scripts. They've been quick, very responsive, and helpful. They provide good advice and aren't clueless like a lot of first-line tech support folks. Totally recommend!

I have had a website with a free, basic hosting service provided by Doteasy for more than 5 years. During this time, I have been impressed with the improved uptime, lack of ads, and increases in storage space and bandwidth. Even though I am a senior citizen, albeit with good tech skills, I find it very easy to use the cPanel as well as to manage my site by ftp. I rated the cost a 9 instead of 10 because of the somewhat high price for domain name registration that is required to be by Doteasy with a basic plan.

The one feature I found lacking from the cPanel for free hosting was the ability to password-protect files and directories. The Doteasy tech support team was very responsive and helpful to me over a period of days in providing clear directions and a link to a utility to help me add password protection myself to a directory on my site. 😠 Doteasy is terrible and misleading
Doteasy charged my credit card with an un-authorized charge after they sent me an email saying my domain will expire in 5 days if I didn't renew it. I didn't because I wanted it to expire, but they charged my credit card any way and refuse to reverse the charge.

I will never do business with Doteasy again. They are untrustworthy and their software and hosting are very poor.

😠 Realibility and support reaching zero
We were doteasy customer for about 5 years and with every year service get worse and worse, so we finally deflected to a more reliable hosting company.

If you running website that nobody cares about and it is ok for you to be off-line for a few days, then you can consider this company for yourself.

Otherwise consider the following experience:

Security of doteasy shared server were bridged twice in past 6 months

Doteasy customer care replies 1 time in 24h for tickets. So any issue you may have can be resolved only in 2-3 days or longer.

Doteasy may take action to disable accesses to your site while stay unreachable to resolve the problem.

Last thing I want to mention that Doteasy bills in Usd and keep using exchange as 1.3, so make sure that you billed what you expect, not 30% more.

Overall it is hard to recommend this company any longer, even for non-critical hosting.

My experience with Doteasy is good. I am using their unlimited hosting account and it’s quite fast while visiting locally (I am in North America).
I saw some comments in regards to their business practice and concerns about violating ICANN policy. Well, I guess if they violate any ICAAN policies, they would have been out of the industry already.
An one-sided negative comment from a previous employee at Doteasy makes me wonder if his/her comment is based on job termination?!....just my 2cents.

😠 I WORKED AT DOTEASY, STAY AWAY FROM THEM
Doteasy engages in illegal billing and business practices. They will charge your cancelled account without consent. They do not follow ICANN policies be warned. I worked there, and I was DISGUSTED at how I had to lie to customers and basically make excuses on why we cannot transfer their domain name.

If a customer changes their contact information on the domain, they cannot transfer the domain away from Doteasy until after 60 days. So basically, you are FORCED to renew with Doteasy. If you want to transfer your domain name before expiry, they will keep the ball rolling until it expires, and then tell you it has expired, so you cant transfer it and you are required to renew, which is a 60 day lock.

If you attempt to dispute charges via your bank. They WILL charge you a hosting chargeback fee.

Be warned and stay the hell away from Doteasy / In2Net / Dollarhost (they are all the same company).

Terrible service, continual surcharge fees, administrative service mixups which will take years to resolve - there is nothing "easy" about Doteasy. Doteasy offices are located in Canada, so plan on some pricey FedEx fees while you try to regain control over your domain.

Doteasy is horrible if you want to transfer your domain & hosting away from them. I logged in and got the authorization code & initiated a transfer of my domain before it expired. I got a notice from the new registrar that the transfer was successful, followed a few minutes later by a message saying the transfer failed due to a lock status. I messaged Doteasy about the domain lock, but they did not reply until after my domain expired. I clearly checked the lock status of my domain when I was getting the authorization code and it showed to be unlocked. After the transfer failed I checked again and it showed to be locked. Doteasy refuses to unlock it now unless I pay their "domain release fee" which is the same dollar amount as renewing and hosting for another year. I've already paid for another registrar & host and do not want to do business with Doteasy any longer. Repeated messages to support & a phone call have failed to resolve this issue.

Once My website become active things suddenly stopped working. After many hours of investigation, I submitted a support request to DotEasy. They responded by informing me my script couldn't release resources and was causing trouble for the server. I checked my code for an extended period of time and could not find any errors or reasons why resources were not released.
After many days and attempts by Dot Easy support to sell "partner" services and hourly dubugging services I figured out there was NO problem with my script. DotEasy was simply not capable of providing shared hosting services.
When they would not enable my website I requested a refund. They refused.

😠 Several times I've requested they stop billing me for service they no longer provide. I've even emailed back showing them emails I've had with their customer service. They requested my username and password to stop service, I sent them this (though wonder why since they are corresponding with my email address in their billing records). I'm still getting billing emails... seriously, how does one stop service with these people!

They even sent me a link, for a web email to fill out... I wrote a long email, only for the form to tell me that th domains do not exsist, erasing EVERYTHING I wrote down.

As for their service, their folks seem to be incompetant as well!

😠 There are some things about their dashboard I liked (there's my only positive about them). But trying to leave DotEasy has been anything but easy. I've moved domains away from GoDaddy and register.com with no problems. But DotEasy made it frustrating to simply close a hosting account or move a domain. Additionally, Dot Easy carries an F rating by the BBB in CAN. As one reviewer states, read the fine print and be aware they will use any loose end to continue charging your account. Lesson Learned: Had we seen their reputation from the BBB before hosting with them, we would not have given them any business at all.

😠 My experiences with DotEasy's customer service is mostly negative. Their knowledge base is hopelessly out of date, with instructions for long-expired software. The people who respond to tickets have never gone out of their way to resolve problems for me, instead offering excuses for why it's not their fault.

I had a problem with my mySQL tables getting erased and lost of all of my Movable Type data. They said it wasn't their fault because they don't support Movable Type -- even though that would have nothing to do with my database getting erased.

I'm paying for a plan that includes PHP5 but they're only giving me PHP4. I complained, and they said that I'd have to pay a hidden surcharge to access certain features -- even though I'm already paying for them.

Dealing with DotEasy has been a pretty unpleasant experience. I'm in the process of moving all of my sites over to DreamHost, which has been much more accommodating.

Do NOT use your VISA card that is linked to your checking account!

They are located in Canada. Make sure you know this before doing business with them if you are in the United States. You will be charged an exchange rate.

They have an AUTO RENEWAL POLICY for their Web Hosting Service.

They have a DOWNGRADE FEE.

They have a CHARGEBACK FEE.

They will NICKLE and DIME you!

So, while you are happily going along with $0 web hosting and it comes time to renew your domain, it's also time to make sure your web hosting stays at $0. If you cancel your domain, they then trap you by charging you $23.54 or $22.54 or $22.10, whichever version they decide to charge you.

Guess what? It's all protected in their TOS!

So, if you have to have Doteasy because you don't believe all of us complaining ex-customers or stuck-customers, just make sure you READ EVERYTHING and do NOT and I repeat do NOT provide your VISA card if it is [read more...]

😃 I don't know why the commenter's below have chosen to leave such negative comments about Doteasy. I have had nothing but quality service from them over the years. Perhaps they are trying to damage this good company's reputation because they didn't get their own way.

I don't really need a refund guarantee for the web hosting Doteasy is providing to me, since the price of that service is FREE. Plus if you look at the terms and conditions of other providers you will see almost all of them have similar clauses regarding refunds or a lack thereof.

Yes, my domain transfer to them did take 7 days, but I was actually surprised when I found out that this was actually the bare minimum amount of time required for a domain transfer to occur because there is a mandatory 7 day transfer confirmation period for domain transfers. Plus it wasn't really Doteasy's fault that I forgot to ensure that my domain was unlocked before I started the transfer.

😠 I have been trying to get Doteasy to release my domain to my new registrar since the 22nd February when I entered the correct authorization code (it is now the 11th March). I would advise anyone who is with them to allow at least two months to avoid any transfer problems. My business website and e-mails are now down and I have had to contact them numerous times. I have not been able to activate the DNS transfer either.They are now stating it may be another five days and as they are not open over the weekend, this translates in reality to seven days! I transferred another domain name at the same time from another provider and the process took four days and was completely painless. I cannot urge people strongly enough to keep away from Doteasy. I have also noticed that KingKoopa is very active on noticeboards trying to dispel the negative comments by actual users of Doteasy. 😠 Good ole Doteasy..This is the worst experience I have ever had on the web. Our 501C3 NON-PROFIT CHARITY was ripped off by these animals.$466. because of a dispute over the exchange rate which they trick you into. I asked for a dipute, And we were correct, our bank recharged the correct amounts to them . Then they locked our accounts and would not turn them back on unless we were to pay an extra $125 re-activation fee plus a $25 bank fee for each of our three accounts. Extortionist. I hope I can get the word out. They never returned our money and we did not have the extra $200 to get things reactivated...So they have our money, and we have Nothing. Thanks dotsleazy !

😠 It is no wonder doteasy doesn't have a telephone number...they're hiding! After years of rotten service my organization is giving up on them...Problem is that over a week's worth of effort has not gotten them to take down our existing websites so that we can post new ones via a different provider...and we own the domain names!

Be warned one and all...STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE! You will spare yourself a terrible time and an exercise in frustration. I feel like I've been dealing with the MacKenzie brothers - HOSERS!

😠 I was on a paid hosting account with these pundits for nearly three years. I noticed a lot of downtime, but I was always too lazy to change my hosting. I chose this company mainly because they were offering the best packages for the best cost IN CANADA. I won't make that mistake again. The features weren't too bad (all of their modules, Perl, CGI, etc., were up to date), and they had a mysql and phpmyadmin built into their VERY confusing control panel. Their version of offering scripts was providing a list of guestbooks, blogware, counters, etc. that you could use if you happened to visit the respective site and download them for installing them on the server. There are no automatic scripting like Fantastico, or anything like that. 😠 Avoid! Doteasy is not free. They lock your domain and you have to renew it with them. The renewal is nearly triple than other registrars ask, so you pay for your “free” hosting more than with other providers.
If you try to transfer your domain they will not release the authorisation code and will not reply to your support requests. You can be official owner of the domain (and you have also some responsibilities) but the real owner of your domain is Doteasy. Call it “free hosting” … :-/

😠 Doteasy STINKS. I highly recommend that you not use their service. Poor customer service when there is a problem. The staff seems to disappear and do not want to return emails when there is a problem, and the problems are getting worse and worse each day now. When they do answer emails they don't answer your question and don't seem to know what they're doing. They have also lied to me on several occasions. AVOID THE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

😠 About two weeks ago I my website was down for about a day. I contacted Dot Easy via email, since they have no telephone available, and received a response the next day. Their customer service rep told me that nothing was wrong and that he "could not duplicate" the problem I was having. I asured him that my site did not have any traffic that day in question.

I'm not satisfied with their service or network performance. I plan to leave their hosting and move elsewhere. I don't recommend this company.

😠 Server outages are becomming more frequent and of a longer duration. Customers can't access web site and I can't send/receive pop3 email.

I am beginning to question if this host is worth the cost (free). Upgrading to paid hosting would make no difference since the entire ISP is down.

😞 Fairly reliable BUT when there is a problem their service is horrible!! Currently our firm's email has been down all day and Doteasy's online help hasn't been active and they are not responding to emails. This happened only once before, but it took a whole day to get in touch with them to fix the problem.

Bottom line, it is economical but when something goes wrong, they are nowhere to be found.
