π Editorial Review
Founded in 2000, Namecheap has evolved from a modest domain registrar into one of the most recognized names in the domain and hosting industry. Today, Namecheap is an ICANN-accredited registrar managing over 17 million domains for clients worldwide. With more than 1,700 employees operating across 18 countries, itβs clear that Namecheap has grown significantly while retaining its original mission: to provide affordable, reliable services for everyone.Although itβs best known for its competitively priced domain registrations, Namecheap offers a comprehensive suite of services, including shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, reseller hosting, private email, SSL certificates, and a website builder. Additional services like WHOIS privacy (WhoisGuard), business apps, and eCommerce tools demonstrate their effort to cater to both beginners and small-to-medium business owners.
While Namecheap has made strides to expand its hosting services, it's still often seen as a domain-first company. Some users have reported issues like slower page load times, which may hinder their ability to compete with hosting-centric providers like Bluehost or SiteGround. Nevertheless, the value-for-money proposition and transparency they offer remain core attractions.

π I have been using the service for more than six months - it suits me perfectly. I am very happy with the adequate support, how many times I have applied - they solve issues efficiently and quickly.

π Namecheap screwed us over royally. We decided to transfer our hosting from AWS to namecheap but before we did it we emailed them telling them do not: 1. crash the site 2. do not make it live till everything was working. The nightmare starts there.
Bear in mind we have an investor meeting with a major silicon valley VC firm in 2 days. We also have over 400 customers. I continue...
At 4am (almost 2 days after the "migration" started by them) they told us it was all done thanks for choosing namecheap. It wasn't done. Not even close. SSL wasn't there, URLs were all wrong, our dashboard wasn't appearing. So I started chatting with them. At 12pm nothing was fixed. Even after 3 chats and them telling me it was done.
At noon - they fixed our SSL. 1 hour later, it was gone again. All our internal URLs were broken and they told me "its ok, its just because the domain is still catching up, it will only take 2 more hours." At 5pm nothing was better and I was getting tired after all I had been on the chat now since 4 am - 13 hours!
So my lead dev started helping me - well they blocked me out of my account - and mistreated me like a criminal in the process. Support hung up on me two times. Now, the USA is waking up, its 9pm my time in Singapore and I have officially been on the chat going on 17 hours.
They said they would respond to the support ticket in 2 hours but now its been over 3. We have customer complaints coming in, requests for refunds, we had to reschedule our investor meeting and they have wasted my resources. They have cost us thousands and possible pre-series A.
They literally have held us hostage and possibly damaged us beyond repair and at a pivotal moment for the company.
NEVER USE NAMECHEAP. Your entire business, employees and customers will suffer and they wont care one bit.
They will say the same thing over and over "were sorry, it must be frustrating"
