Ionos changed it's phone number in 2019 so it was no longer toll free. Unaware that when I was transferred to their new number I was calling outside my country I racked up a huge bill for their tedious 90 min customer services. The call resolved nothing except add-ons which I did not request! In spite of best efforts I kept being billed 1.00 here or $5.00 there for add-ons I never subscribed for. I had 4 domains with them. One of them was up for renewal and I didn't pay the invoice because I wanted to transfer it out. IONIS locked me out of my account; locked the business email to a different domain, and conveinently can't get the authroization code to transfer that domain to someone else! I asked how I was to pay the invoice without account access, they gave me some convaluted process about paypal, as they couldn't just charge it to a credit card. Then to add a little more sting, the CS rep stated that although the invoice said $17.00 there were a bunch of other charges that amounted to $45.00. This is the second time they've hijacked my domains and service with inflated charges that don't correspond to the invoice, or are held on 'separate contracts'. They are unethical and I wouldn't advise hosting anything with them.
